The Curse of Strahd

Session 9: 2 Hunters 1 Bottle

As told by Helios Winston

  • As we sit at the bonfire, I pull some embers out to cool into charcoal. B’atz helps me.
  • Everyone else is talking amongst the Vishtani.
  • A Vishtani hunter, Harkus Belasco, and his wife, Tereska, come over to Ziven and spark conversation, somewhat insulting us.
  • We share a bottle of wine provided by Tereska.
  • I try to talk to Ilac to get some incense, herbs, and a bronze bowl. I believe he may have been trying to take advantage of my drunk state. Ziven stepped in and said he can help with my needs
  • Ismark and Ireena are staying to themselves while we all talk among the Vishtani.
  • We all go to sleep late into the night around 1 am.
  • I wake up early to perform my “find familiar” ritual to summon L’zard the bat.
  • Soon after everyone wakes. Utztec brings me my rations for the day as my hunger is getting unbearable. My fangs extract as he gets close to me as I sense his life energy. I am able to fight back the urge and eat my rations.
  • We head out of the camp and are a bit of a ways out when Ismark mentions that we not take the direct route to Vellaki to try to put some distance and distractions between those that may be following us.
  • Ireena is almost entranced by castle Ravenloft looming over the land
  • We head into a dark forest where suddenly a wolf jumps out toward Utztec
  • The wolf was not a match for Utztec as he cleaved him in half.
  • We come to river with a rocky bank to climb up. I fell into the water and got swept in the current a bit of the ways down.
  • As I get out and back on the trail, I hear a swoosh and snap, and all of a sudden Ziven and I are stuck in a net swinging in the air.
  • After being cut down, we walk further until we reached the Shrine of the Mother Night.
  • We didn’t get to experience the beauty of the shrine as arrows swooshed passed out heads.
  • The hunters Belasco were attacking us. Combat Begins!
  • We defeated the pets and the hunters realized they were outmatched. They ran and we pursued.
